Fading Flowers

Fading Flowers is a graphic score that was commissioned by eavesdropping for the 2023 festival, with the generous support of the eavesdropping consortium and in celebration of Jean and Peter Marshall. On one of my walks, my attention was drawn to stems of flowers resting against a rock. They reminded me of staff notation where each withered flower could represent a note with different sound qualities. The graphic score is created from photographs taken during the walk and short instructions beneath each image give inspiration for developing an improvisation.
